Hello, I’m Sarah.
For over 20 years, I’ve been writing and editing in multiple genres. I also love working with first (or many) time authors to help them find where they are stuck, and get them moving forward. Investing in yourself and your book is something you won’t regret!
Nothing makes me happier than helping others to pull the words they are envisioning out of their heads, or polishing it up for them on paper.
What kind of writer or editor am I? I’m empathetic. Meaning, I understand the experience of bringing your ideas to life. It can be kind of scary. There’s that worry of turning over an idea to write about or an edit that needs to be done. What’s going to happen? Will you like it?
That’s why I take the time to explain that I do, and why. My first experience of having a manuscript edited was horrifying. It was enough to make a person swear off writing.
The manuscript was returned and covered in so much red, I wondered if ANYTHING I had written was left. I put it in a drawer, heartbroken.
A few months later, I came back to it.
Page by page I went through it and started making changes. To my surprise, my story was still there…but it was better. It was stronger. Clearer. The manuscript had been enhanced by those changes.
Enhance is a word I use with authors who have a great story, but are a little bare bones in areas. Enhance means we work together to figure out what’s missing and add it in. It’s the icing roses on the cake. The toppings on the pizza.
I love to work with clients to make sure what they see in their mind is what happens on paper. I know that gut wrenching feeling when your manuscript has a lot of red on it or your book or article doesn’t say what you wanted it to.
Everything I do? It has one purpose. To enhance you. Your work doesn’t belong to me. it doesn’t even belong to you! It belongs to the reader. And that’s who I’m working for. I’m doing what I can, to help you be the best.
